How it all began
I started making candles for family and friends as a hobby in 2017 when I was working as a nurse in the NHS as it was a great way to de-stress at the end of a busy day.
Following a move to Uig, on the Isle of Lewis in 2018 with my husband and two boys, I was able to develop my hobby further and so ‘Uig Candles’ was created.
I enjoy nature and the outdoors and I am very fortunate to live on the rugged West Coast of the Isle of Lewis. One of the most remote but beautiful places in the UK. An area steeped in history, surrounded by mountains and lochs and close to the white sandy beaches.
I am inspired by the seasons and all the different flowers and fragrances that are found in them and I enjoy capturing this in my candles.
It is important to me that my candles are eco-friendly and so I use 100% natural soy wax with cotton & linen wicks to give a long, clean smoke free burn and premium fragrance oils that are paraben and phalate free, which are sourced in the UK and are not tested on animals and suitable for vegans.
I hand pour my candles in small batches, using containers that are re-usuable and recyclable and try to use the least amount of plastic possible.
I want to create beautiful, scented candles that you can take home with you to enjoy and where the fragrance lasts to the very end of the jar.
